As you know, I just got a new dog — a yellow lab mix named Brielle! So I decided to include a couple of dog items in our Holiday Gift Guide at Mommy and Me Giveaways, and wanted to cross-post them here since I have been too busy to get much posted over here lately. Yes, Brielle is getting a stocking this year with some special items in it just for her. Our review products she is getting right away though, so she has tried out everything we got from Chewy.com already. I was given a $50 gift code to use at Chewy.com. We need a lot of items for Brielle, but I chose what I thought were some of the most important things to get for her, making sure to get a good variety of items for my review. Here is what I ordered:

Shopping on Chewy.com was very easy, and it was simple to add and remove items to my cart. I definitely tested out the “remove from cart” feature quite a bit, because I had a hard time deciding what to get! I added several items to my cart and then narrowed it down. As you can see I went slightly over my $50 gift code amount, but I did get free shipping, since my order was over $50, and I could have saved a little more if I had set up a delivery schedule too, but I chose not to do that. One thing I love about shopping at Chewy.com is I really hate going to the store. I order as much as I can online, so if I can order items for Brielle online too that is great! Chewy.com has pretty much anything you could want for your dog or cat!

Brielle’s favorite out of the items I ordered is the Natural Balance Dog Food Roll Holiday Pack which included three 1-lb rolls — turkey, beef, and lamb.

I mentioned in another post that Brielle was starving when she was found a couple of weeks ago. She still looks to be a little underweight but she looks much better than what the people I got her from described from when they found her. I am looking for products to get some more meat on her bones and give her more nourishment. Food Rolls are a great thing for that! I have only mixed it with her dry food as a supplement to her diet. Brielle is pretty uninterested in food for the most part, but if it is in her food bowl she will gobble it up. Well the food rolls were a huge hit with her and she picked out all the pieces of it first before eating the rest of her food. She has been eating these for a few days now and loves them!

Her next favorite item we got is the Flexi Freedom Soft Grip Pink Retractable Leash. I only bought a cheap regular 6 foot leash when I got Brielle and figured I would get a better leash for review. I quickly found out the 6 foot leash was not a good idea with Brielle. She does not like to do her business so close to me. My last dog was like that too and I always had a hard time getting her to go potty until I got a retractable leash. So after much in-and-out of the house trying to get Brielle to go potty, and her trying to tug out of her collar when she needs to go potty on the 6 foot leash, a retractable leash was first on our list when shopping at Chewy.com. I went with a leash for medium size dogs. She really qualifies as a large dog, but I was trying to watch how much money I was spending on my gift code, and considering she is so good on the leash and doesn’t tug or pull, I decided a medium should be fine. It is for up to 44lb and she is probably around 50lb. So far it has worked fine! The first time I took her out on this leash, she was SO excited! She ran around, stretching it to the limit, then quickly did her business. I have had no more problems with getting her to do her business on a leash since we got this retractable leash! No more in-and-out of the house trying to get her to go potty.

The next item we got is the Merrick G.I. Dog Bone Chew. I chose the 7-9 inch bone, and realized maybe I should have gotten the next size down. It is a little heavy, but Brielle handles it okay. The weight seemed to surprise her when she first picked it up though! They come in size 2-3 inch and 4-6 inch as well. These bones are full of protein, and Merrick leaves a little meat on the bone during processing to make it a great treat for your dog!

Brielle shows very little interest in most things. She has a couple other bones, and she just hid one kind of bone and I have no clue where it is. Her other bone she leaves on the floor and doesn’t chew on it much. The Merrick bone she checked out at first and ate some of the meaty flakes that came off of it, but didn’t seem totally interested in it. She would chew on it a little here and there and then just leave it alone. But when I got up the next day, I saw the bone stripped clean of all the meaty stuff on the bone so I would say she really does like it! Here is her bone after one night:
The last item I chose for Brielle was a JW Pet Crackle Heads Cuz Dog Toy. It comes in size small, medium, and large. I got the large, which is almost too big for Brielle, but she’s handling it fine. At first I thought it was too big. She was picking it up by its feet instead of the ball part of it. But we have since played fetch with it and she picks up the ball part in her mouth just fine! Brielle is not extremely playful and has shown little interest in her other couple of toys I got her, except to chew on them mostly. She didn’t show much interest in this toy the first day either. But She gets really frisky every now and then and wants to play fetch and burn off some energy, and our go-to toy for fetch now is this Crackle Heads Cuz dog toy! She loves chasing it and trying to catch it as it bounces! I am glad to have found a toy she really likes, because she wasn’t showing much interest in the other toys I’ve gotten her, except to play tug-of-war with her plush toy when she brings it back from fetching it. She gets much more excited about fetching the Crackle Heads Cuz than her plush toy though!

Chewy.com has anything you might need for your dog, or even your cat! If you’re holiday shopping for your pet, be sure to check them out. Also the delivery subscription is a great feature to use if you want to buy dog food regularly from them, or if your dog goes through a certain favorite toy once a month and you want to set it up to get a new one each month, or however often you need it.
