Brielle seems to be getting used to us more and adjusting pretty well. Even just since I posted about her 2 days ago! She is becoming much more playful, and not ONLY when she needs to poop either! This is a little bit of a problem at times, because she gets so wild and knocks Davey down or scratches him. Of course she doesn’t mean to, but she can get pretty frisky and wild and Davey doesn’t know to stay out of her way. He tries to play with her but he’s really too little to play with a big dog!
Today he wanted to play fetch with her and every time I gave him her toy to throw she would snatch it out of his hand before he had a chance to throw it! He got pretty upset about this actually because he really wants to play fetch with her like Mommy does!
I actually just caught her nipping at Davey’s arm trying to play, and apparently she nipped too hard! I keep playing fetch with her when she gets frisky to try to wear her down and keep her from hurting Davey on accident.
This is getting rid of the idea I had that she may be an older dog. At first I thought she was still a pretty young dog. She looks young, but it’s hard to tell when they are full grown and she seems to be grown into her paws. Then with how calm and docile she acts I thought maybe she actually is an older dog and that is why she is not interested in much and sleeps so much. But yesterday and today she has wanted to play a lot! I guess she realizes she is now in a home where it is okay to play and that we will play with her whenever she wants, so she is definitely letting me know when she wants to play!
I’m so glad she is getting used to us and being more like a “normal” dog now! Hopefully I can teach her to be a little more calm around Davey though, or get Davey to understand he needs to just sit down and not chase her when she gets frisky!
Any suggestions on handling a playful big dog with a wild, stubborn 3 year old would be appreciated!

She will calm down soon. Our dog was frisky too but now she is calmer…..until you get her wild up.

Wish I had some suggestions but hubby won’t let us have a dog. I hope you get it figured out!
She is a beautiful puppy!! I think dogs get calmer as they get older/mature. They all have their “moments” but I do think this is something she will grow out of.
I don’t really have suggestions either, but I know with my mom’s dog the calm came with age. Good luck! She’s adorable.

That’s great that Brielle is being more joyful around you guys. I’m sure that later on Davey and Brielle will know how to get along just fine and will be inseparable!
The longer you have her and older she gets the more she should calm down. She is adorable.
