Casio ~ CTK-3200 Portable Keyboard {Review & Giveaway ~ US only}

CasioLogo

I reviewed a Casio keyboard last year on my other blog, which helped Davey learn to play the piano.  There is a lot of musical talent in our family, and Davey can now sound out pretty much any song he wants to on the keyboard or piano.  My younger brother is extremely talented and can play pretty much any instrument he tries.  He has been playing the alto sax and guitar for several years, has played the baritone for a couple of years, and can play other instruments if he had more access to them.  He can pick up an instrument and figure it out pretty easily.  We have had a piano since I was a kid, but my brother, being a teenager, stays up in his room most the time and has not played on the piano very much.  He recently asked me to see if I could get another keyboard for review so that he could start playing and could take it to college with him this fall.  He has had this keyboard about a month and has been sounding out music and composing his own music during this time. Casio sent us the CTK-3200 portable keyboard for [...]

Bailey Berry ~ Cute kids shoes {Review}

BaileyBerry2

 Thank you Bailey Berry and Celebrity Trend Expert, Rachel Florio-Urso, for providing me with Navy BBStars Kids’ Shoes, free of charge, for review.  These are my own honest opinions.   Davey usually only has one pair of shoes each season, but as he gets older he is getting more and more rough on his shoes.  And now that we live in a house with a nice yard he plays outside and gets his shoes filthy, which means more washing and more wear and tear.  So I was excited to get to try out Bailey Berry shoes for him!  These are made of recycled materials which can be hosed down or rinsed in the sink when Davey gets them dirty. We received the Navy BBStars Kids’ Shoes, which came with a mesh shoe bag, a bracelet, and 2 reversible straps that can be interchanged with the ones already on the shoes.  Davey loves that he can change the look of his shoes however he wants!   I went by the sizing chart, just comparing the US size to the European sizing that another brand he wears uses, and these were actually just a little big when we got them.  But Davey has [...]

TruKid review & giveaway (US only)

TruKid

Thank you TruKid for providing me with Silly Shampoo and Sunny Days Sunscreen, free of charge, for review.  These are my own honest opinions. I have always loved trying all natural products for Davey, but I will admit I don’t use all natural products with him on a regular basis.  Let’s face it, it can be expensive to go all natural or organic with everything!  So I was pleasantly surprised when I found out about TruKid and saw their products are all natural and are not too expensive for all natural products! Ok, they are more expensive than the not-all-natural brands you find in the store, but not by too much and it is worth it just to know that what you are putting in your child’s hair or on their body is not harmful in any way.  When I think about how little shampoo I use in Davey’s hair and the fact that he generally does not bathe every single day, $8.99 is not too much to pay for all natural shampoo.  When I think about how chemical-filled sunscreen makes Davey break out if I don’t get it completely scrubbed off that night, it is worth it to me to [...]

Umi Shoes review & giveaway (US only)

UmiShoes1

It’s finally Spring, even if it may not feel like it!  I’ve been working on getting Davey’s spring clothes, and he of course needed some sandals.  After working with Umi Shoes on my other blog a few times, I have fallen in love with their shoes and Davey loves them too!  He can’t stand it when I buy him a pair of cheap shoes from the local store.  It has to be Umi, or nothing at all! Umi recently sent me a pair of sandals for review.  I chose the Laren in Cocoa Multi color.  It comes in two other colors as well, but Davey wears a lot of brown, so cocoa multi was perfect for him. To be honest, it was a struggle at first to get Davey to wear these shoes.  He does not like change at all and wanted to keep wearing his winter Umi shoes.  We had this problem when our dog chewed up another pair of Umi Shoes and he had to wear another pair of shoes we had until I could order some in the exact same style from Umi; it was a nightmare!  So while the weather has been warmer here these past [...]

HearthSong review & giveaway (US only)

HearthSong1

As you know, I believe Davey may be autistic.  At his first evaluation they told me he was not on the spectrum but I think they overlooked something and need to get him reevaluated.  My mom, however, thinks he is just a wild child with behavior problems.  Either way —  I recently found out about hanging chairs being good for autistic kids or kids who have bad meltdowns, and I approached Hearth Song about reviewing their hanging chair and they sent me the HugglePod hanging chair for review.   One thing I have to say, but it is not really a huge deal, is that there are no hanging instructions included besides telling the consumer to have a professional install it, and to not use metal on metal to hang it because of the risk of metal shavings.  I knew we could hang it ourselves, as it couldn’t be much different from hanging our porch swing!  It did not come with any hanging hardware, we had to purchase that ourselves.  Going by what I read in other reviews, we decided to use a heavy duty eye hook in the ceiling joist, a carabiner in the loop on the swing, and [...]

Whiteboard Wall Decals by Dezign with a Z

DezignWithAZ2

When I moved in with my mom, we set up an art corner for Davey in the kitchen with his art desk and a shelf to hold his coloring books and paper.  Davey loves art, and he was wanting to hang every drawing he did on the refrigerator.  We had our fridge covered in art and it was getting pretty ridiculous.  So my mom got a science board project board from the store and we decorated it with stickers and hung it on the wall above Davey’s art desk to tape his pictures to it.  It looked okay, but kind of messy. I recently came across whiteboard wall decals by Dezign with a Z.  I knew this would be perfect above Davey’s art desk instead of that project board.  It would look much neater, and we could write or draw on it as well as hang his art.  We wanted something pretty big, the size of the project board we were using before.   We thought the framed ones were pretty cute.  So we chose the Whiteboard Frame Wall Decals and customized the size to 48×36 inches, with the Old School frame in brown.  Here it is on our wall with Davey’s [...]

Craft Cuts review & giveaway (US & Canada)

CraftCuts2

I have been redecorating Davey’s room and am always on the lookout for products that will look good in his room.  This all started a few months ago, when I decided I wanted to redecorate his room in an outer space theme.  I started getting review products on my other blog for his room, but then the decision to move came up and that put a halt on his room.  Now that we’re all settled in at our new home it was time to get busy!  I’ve recently painted his room and put up space decals and still have a few more things to do in there. When I came across Craft Cuts and their painted wooden letters, I knew this would be a perfect finishing touch in Davey’s room!  Davey can spell his name and he thinks it is so cool to have his name up in his room.  I had some decals of his name at our old house but couldn’t bring those with me since they were not reusable.  The wooden painted letters are so much better than decals, I think!  If we move again I can easily take them with  me, and the 3D effect of [...]

GlassDharma review & giveaway (Worldwide)

glassdharma2

Earth Day 2013 is quickly approaching and GlassDharma is giving away 1000 straws for Earth Day this year!  More details on it will be coming on March 4th, but they posted a press release on their blog, Sip the World, recently.  ”To qualify for your free glass straw, please subscribe to the GlassDharma e-newsletter where details will be forthcoming.  Once the details are announced through the newsletter on March 4th, follow the instructions to receive your free glass straw!” To help promote this, I was sent a set of 4 glass straws and 2 cleaning brushes from GlassDharma for review and allowed to offer a giveaway on each of my blogs!  My giveaway on my other blog will be posted during our Earth Week event, but since I am not quite up for doing week long events on Just Davey & Me just yet, I wanted to go ahead and post this giveaway now.  Here is what I received from GlassDharma: I have always wanted to try out glass straws, so I was really excited when these came!  I received 3 longer straws and one shorter straw.  The shortest one is a Decorative Dots sipper which is 7mm x 6.25″.  This was a [...]

Nature’s Own review & giveaway (US only)

naturesown2

Hi everyone, I have a yummy review and giveaway for you tonight!  Nature’s Own recently sent me a few products for review.  I’m a bread addict so this was much appreciated.  They sent me their honey wheat bread, plain thin-sliced bagels, cinnamon raisin swirl bread, and butter hamburger buns. Not only am I a bread addict, but I am a bagel addict too!  I could live on bagels.  I eat bagels with cream cheese, with peanut butter, butter and warmed up in the microwave, or regular sandwiches like ham and cheese.  Davey has picked up my love of bagels and asks for them a lot, but most bagels are too much for him to eat, especially when he wants something else to eat along with the bagel.  So the plain thin-sliced bagels Nature’s Own sent have become Davey’s bagels.  They are the perfect size for him to eat.  He usually wants cream cheese on them, so I spread cream cheese on both sides and put it together like a sandwich (for less mess!).  He absolutely loves these bagels! One of my favorite products they sent was the cinnamon raisin swirl bread.  For whatever reason I rarely buy this, just every [...]

Bringing Home Brielle: FauxPaw Productions review & giveaway (US only)

fauxpawproductions

Here is a review for probably one of my favorite dog companies so far, FauxPaw Productions. Debby Carman at FauxPaw Productions made a custom dog bowl for Brielle, and also sent me a puppet, and a set of 6 books with another puppet. First let me tell you about the dog bowl. She really does amazing work and I absolutely LOVE our custom bowl! I sent her a couple of pictures of Brielle and she made it custom to have the picture in the bowl look like Brielle. You can also describe your dog such as personality and what they like and she will make the bowl to match your dog. When I contacted her I really had no clue what Brielle liked yet, so I just sent the photos. Here is a close-up of what she created: Amazing, isn’t it? We have been using this bowl for Brielle’s water. This way we can always see the adorable artwork even when the bowl is full of water, and it is heavy enough and designed in such a way that Brielle does not tip it over or move it around. Custom dog bowls are $65, which might seem like a lot for [...]
