Brielle went to her new home

Sorry for the delayed update on this, but Brielle went to her new home, and I think it was a good home for her.  It is not the one I mentioned in my post about having to find her a new home.  That one didn’t work out, but a nice gay couple in Memphis contacted me. They were looking for a medium to large size dog and I texted with one of them off and on for a whole day talking about Brielle and answering questions and he was sure she would be a good fit for them.  They have a fenced in yard, and live near a huge park in Memphis that has a dog park, and they go to that park a lot.  I did warn them to wait to take her to the dog park until they’ve had her a little while because she is a runner and I didn’t want her to get away from them! They came to meet her and decided she was perfect for them!  They loaded up their truck with all her stuff.  They had a small truck and Brielle was so spoiled that all her stuff completely filled up the back [...]

Hartz review

Hartz review

Hi everyone, Lisa here with a great review from Hartz! We will be giving away a Hartz package in our huge Blogiversary giveaway at Mommy and Me Giveaways later today, but first I wanted to review the items they sent me for Brielle. I absolutely love working with Hartz. I have always loved Hartz products for my pets, whether they were dogs, cats, or small animals. Brielle wound up spoiled rotten with the items Hartz has sent us for review. I did a Hartz review last month, and then they offered to send more stuff for Brielle for this review! Believe it or not, Brielle’s favorite item they sent was not the plush toys they sent which are usually her favorite (although she did love those too!), but her favorite was the Chew ‘n Clean bone. It is a dental chew that helps clean your dog’s teeth by removing tartar. They come in a variety of sizes and promote chewing which is good for your dog’s teeth. Brielle actually does not chew on it a whole lot, but she tosses it around and pounces on it like a toy. Here is a video of her going crazy with the Chew [...]

Bringing Home Brielle: Stella & Chewy’s review

StellaandChewys

One thing I decided to do differently when I got Brielle is make sure she is eating the best foods.  I’ve mentioned in other posts how cheaper foods did not agree with Brielle’s stomach, and I also decided to incorporate some raw food products into her diet.  Stella & Chewy’s makes natural raw food products for dogs and cats.  They sent me some of their food and treats for Brielle. They sent 2 bags of Stella’s Super Beef Dinner, which are freeze-dried beef patties you can either give your dog as a meal, or use as a food topper.  When reading the recommended amount to give Brielle, she is over 30lb so it was recommended to feed as a mixer or topper.  These patties can be crumbled up or you can moisten them before feeding them to your dog.  I just crumble them up in Brielle’s food and break each patty into smaller pieces for her.  She loves these beef patties and gets excited when I get the bag out!  I have it and the treats sitting on the couch next to me while I write this review and she followed me over here, sniffing them, thinking it was time [...]

Bringing Home Brielle: Pet Naturals review & giveaway (US only)

PetNaturals1

Here is our last (but not least!) giveaway in Bringing Home Brielle, but I still have one more review to post in a little bit too.  Pet Naturals sent all kinds of products for Brielle for review.  We got vitamins and other supplements, shampoo, and flea & tick spray. All of this in the pictures above was actually over $100 worth of products, and I am very grateful Pet Naturals was so generous with sending things for Brielle!  I had no idea how much it all added up to when I was making my list of products I was interested in.  After Brielle had been found starving, I wanted her on some vitamins and figured some other supplements would probably be good for her as well.  We were sent their Daily Best multivitamin and Skin + Coat supplements which are great vitamins to have your dog on.  Brielle loves these as treats.  They include directions on how many you should give your dog and whether you should give them once a day or twice a day. We were also sent Calming supplements for medium and large dogs.  Brielle hates to be left alone so I give her these when we [...]

Bringing Home Brielle: The Honest Kitchen review & giveaway (US only)

honestkitchen

The people I got Brielle from found her abandoned and starving and told me she was pretty underweight when they found her and they’d been fattening her up.  She still seemed a bit skinny to me when I got her, so I wanted to find some good healthy dog food that might help put some more weight on her and give her the nutrients she was probably lacking.  Also I found out quickly she is very sensitive to cheaper dog food, so I had to switch to all natural, organic, or made with human grade ingredients foods for her. The Honest Kitchen offered me their Thrive dehydrated dog food for review, and also their Perfect Form herbal supplement which helps with digestive issues. I chose the Thrive because it is higher in protein and fat than some of their other foods and we thought this would be a good choice for Brielle after she was found starving.  When I took her to the vet a couple of weeks later they told me she is a good weight, and I did notice her filling out even more over that couple of weeks. I had never used a dog food like this [...]

Bringing Home Brielle: Drypet review & giveaway (US & Canada)

Drypet

One thing I hate, and I think most dog owners can agree on this, is giving dogs a bath.  My last adult dog behaved in the tub, but drying her long fur was a pain, and then I had to deal with her trying to get on the couch when she was wet.  Brielle is extremely good in the tub for a puppy.  I’ve even caught her jumping in the tub when I get out of the shower when the water is standing in the tub because it is a little clogged up.  She loves the water and while I’m in the shower she stands by the tub peeking around the shower curtain wanting in.  I give her a bath about once a week, which is more than I did my last dog, just because she loves it so much.  What I hate about giving dogs a bath is getting them dry afterward, and dealing with the wet dog smell and trying to keep them off the furniture until they dry off.  Even with Brielle being short-haired and drying faster than my shepherd did, I cannot get her completely dry with a normal bath towel. I only just recently heard [...]

Bringing Home Brielle: West Paw Design review

WestPawDesigns

Brielle is a very playful puppy and she is spoiled rotten with toys now.  I quickly found out her favorite kind of toys are plush toys.  She kept taking Davey’s stuffed animals until she learned she is not allowed to have his, although even now she still tries to sneak his when she can!  So when West Paw Design offered to send a toy for Brielle I requested a plush toy.  They sent their Rowdy Rooster unstuffed dog toy. I was pretty happy they decided to send an unstuffed dog toy.  One thing I hate about plush toys is dogs rip them open and pull the stuffing out.  Brielle did that with one plush toy I bought her already.  In general she doesn’t actually chew up her plush toys, but the one she did tear up had long legs on it and she wanted to play tug of war with it and it tore up.  When we play fetch she tugs on the toy for awhile before I can get it away from her to throw it again.  This Rowdy Rooster has held up well to tugging, rough play, and a little chewing.  This is Brielle’s favorite plush toy she [...]

Bringing Home Brielle: Pawmetto review & giveaway (US only)

Pawmetto

When I got Brielle, I quickly learned that cheaper dog food was not going to work for her.  Also she was starving when she was found by the people I got her from and I really wanted to get some healthy food and treats for her and do things right with her.  I started looking at an online dog magazine and all the products they had reviewed and found so many great products and really learned a lot about what I should be feeding Brielle.  I decided to go mostly all natural or organic with Brielle, and wanted to incorporate raw food products into her diet.  I came across Pawmetto raw pet treats and food toppers and really wanted to try them out for Brielle.  They sent us a bag of treats and a bag of food topper for review.  I didn’t know if Brielle had any preference on flavors so I let them choose and they sent Beef Liver Topper and Chicken Liver Treats. Brielle loved both flavors (I have found out she is not very picky at all!).  The food topper was gone within a few days because she loved it so much I kept giving it to [...]

Bringing Home Brielle: ModaPet review & giveaway (US only)

ModaPet

When I got Brielle I didn’t buy her any pet bowls.  I was pretty sure I could get some for review, so I just let her use a couple of cereal bowls until I lined a couple up for review.  I was really excited when ModaPet offered to send me one of their bowls!  ModaPet bowls are very stylish and so cute!  I loved the True Blue pet bowl which holds 4 cups and I knew it would be perfect for Brielle’s food. This picture really does not do it justice.  This color blue is gorgeous and has a glossy finish on it!  It is one of my favorite shades of blue.  The bowl has a non-skid bottom so it doesn’t get scooted around while your dog is eating.  It is also designed pretty well for not tipping over.  My husky puppy I used to have slid his plastic bowl all over the place when he ate, and I think Brielle would too if she didn’t have a good heavy bowl to use. It is smooth inside and easy to clean and is also dishwasher safe.  I haven’t tested it in a dishwasher since I don’t have one, but it [...]

Definitely need a fence!

So far I have been taking Brielle out on a leash because my fence is falling down in the back and I am being sent an in-ground fence (like Invisible Fence) for review.  They told me it can take up to a month for me to get the in-ground fence and other products they are sending me because they were busy from a trade show, and if I haven’t received it by the end of the year to let her know.  I was hoping to have it in time for Bringing Home Brielle, but that obviously isn’t happening.  Brielle definitely needs a fence of some sort.  When I take her out on her retractable leash I have to let her run laps around me for a bit because she really wants to run and play outside! When I go out to check the mail or take the trash out, if Davey isn’t up or is in his seat eating, I just go on out,and I tell Brielle “No, Stay!” before I walk out the door, and so far that has been just fine and she hasn’t tried to follow me out.  I only shut the storm door then, which is [...]
